PBSO: Man Shot Saturday At Century Village In Stable Condition

Attorney Randy Berman comments on news item in www.PalmBeachPost.com about the man shot by a woman on Saturday at Century Village was in stable condition.

In Florida we have the 10-20-life law which says that if you’re convicted of a violent crime using a firearm there is a 10 year minimum mandatory sentence for possessing the firearm during the commission of the crime. If the weapon is fired during the course of the event there is a 20 year minimum mandatory sentence and if the discharged firearm injures anyone there is a 25 – life minimum mandatory sentence. Unless the shooter has a legal defense to the charge like self defense, stand your ground or legal insanity, she is looking at mandatory 25 years up to life, and there is no gain time or good time off on a mandatory sentence.
